About Us
The Times and the
Scriptures
A Christian
citizenship curriculum for developing
people with an understanding of the times,
to know what America should do
(cf. First Chronicles 12:32)
THE MISSION:
T & S provides
up-to-the-minute weekly discussion guides and supporting research
to help Christian teens and adults integrate the scriptures,
current events, government and America’s spiritual heritage
into a powerful study.
THE NEED:
Recent efforts to increase
voter turnout and other political participation among believers
have not been matched by enough Bible-based citizenship
education. Christians should not simply vote and exercise
influence on their elected officials, they should do so with a
solid knowledge of the scriptures and of the culture in which
they live. Many churches, schools, and home school families feel
ill-equipped to offer the kind of teaching that would address
this challenge, so a solid, user-friendly curriculum is needed.
THE CURRICULUM:
- T & S provides the
Weekly
Bulletin, a
study guide containing news of political and moral
importance coupled with scripture references and
discussion questions to help the class develop a biblical
perspective on current events in America and worldwide.
- The Weekly Bulletin is supplemented by a growing
resource notebook of cross-referenced Backgrounders, articles providing more thorough
scriptural and historical treatment of topics likely to
come up in the news (for example, sanctity of life,
definition of marriage, "separation of church and
state," public and private education, law
enforcement and the courts, etc.) and key Bible passages
(such as Psalm 2, Psalm 78, and Romans 13), with
recommended sources for deeper study.
